Period Carving
 Michael produces work by hand in the traditional manner to the highest aesthetic and technical standards. Drawing on years of experience, he works and designs confidently in the styles of most periods, imparting an artistic fluency to his carving rarely seen in modern times.
Michael has a solid understanding of most styles of English and Classical carving, from the heavily ornate Mannerist style, through Baroque to the refinement of the Neo-Classical period, on to Regency and beyond. This is underpinned by an enthusiastic interest in the disciplined Orders of ancient Classical architecture. He is also very experienced in the stylistically independent ornamentation of the Medieval and Gothic Revival periods, combining precise geometry with free flowing naturalistic form.
