Stair Rail Components Many years ago the carving of wreaths and rails for staircases was a thriving specialist trade. Shaping the volutes and curved sections of handrails, whilst following the exact profile is a task requiring great skill. Joinery manufacturers would subcontract out this part of their work to these specialist firms. Though this trade has long since died away, wooden hand rails still require the complex bends, risers and volutes which can only be made by hand. As woodcarvers we are often asked to produce these specialist components, and have developed an expertise in this field. We are able to replicate any handrail design to order, in a timber of your specification, including risers, volutes, any awkward shapes and curves, and complete handrails for spiral staircases. In most cases, all we need to work from are drawings and a small section of handrail to copy, and where a site visit is required, this can be arranged. We also supply newel posts, finials, balusters, and specialist carved components to your individual specification. As with all our woodcarving, we offer a nationwide service, dispatching each completed order by carrier on the day of its completion. |
